FACULTY POSITION IN MANAGEMENT Entrepreneurship
The School of Business of The George Washington University (GWSB) invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Management beginning in August 2011. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong commitment to research and teaching in entrepreneurship, new venture initiation and social entrepreneurship with a secondary focus on management, leadership and organizational behavior. We encourage innovative research of the highest quality and seek applicants who aim to publish in journals which have an impact on the fields of entrepreneurship and management. Candidates should also be willing to contribute to the mission of the department and have a desire to work closely with doctoral candidates. The Department’s work in entrepreneurship, and in particular its award winning work on Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership and the Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence (CFEE:www.gw-cfee.org), has attracted favorable attention from around the globe. CFEE is also home to the international office of the International Council for Small Business and the editorial home of the Journal of Small Business Management. The Department of Management (www.management.gwu.edu) is an active and vibrant member of the GWSB community, with faculty members publishing in top journals, focusing on teaching as a core competency, serving as editors and editorial board members for a variety of journals, and engaging in executive education and service learning projects. Our faculty members specialize in entrepreneurship, human resource management, organizational behavior and leadership. We offer a strong collegial environment, are committed to having a significant impact on theory and practice through our research and teaching, and are deeply committed to teaching of the highest quality. We desire candidates who share these values and are enthusiastic about teaching undergraduates, MBA students, and doctoral candidates. GWSB’s undergraduate program has been ranked in the Top 50 by US News & World Report for seven consecutive years. Our full-time, global MBA program was recently ranked sixth in the world by The Aspen Institute for social and environmental stewardship. Applicant Qualifications: Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in management or related discipline. ABD candidates will be considered, and if hired, will initially receive a conditional appointment at the rank of instructor, however, the doctorate must be completed by the end of the first academic year of appointment. Applicants need to demonstrate teaching excellence as indicated by teaching letters of recommendation, presentations, and/or teaching assessments. They should also have experience working with external organizations and businesses promoting entrepreneurship. Faculty rank is at the assistant level.
