Welcome back to Spring Quarter! Inside our students are focused on cost volume profit analysis, discounted cash flows, and business for the 21st century. Outside our front door, however, the Sigma Sigma commons is speaking Spring as the cherry trees, magnolias, and more are in full Spring splendor.Spring fever cannot be far behind!

Social Entrepreneurship Students and Mentors Solve Problems
A group ofUniversity ofCincinnati honorsstudents took on the mission of blending theworlds of socialresponsibility andentrepreneurship in a unique class.
CongratulationstoDr. Amit Raturionreceivingagrantto help builda foundationof learning through service.Raturireceived thegrantfor aSocialEntrepreneurship class inWinter Quarter, 2010.Three UC professors from the College of Business, Dr.AmitRaturi(QA/OM), Dr. Charles H.Matthews(ENTR/MGMT),and Dr. Raj Mehta (MRKT) team taught the first time course.
AclassofHonorsstudentsplusan equal number of mentors from the Back-to-Business programvolunteered their time to work withthe students taking the class on Saturdaymornings. The studentsformed four teams and oneof the main deliverables wasan implemental business plan for a social entrepreneurial venture. The teamspresented their ideas to a panel of local business and community partners. |

The site hosted forums used by small businesses and individuals on any topic of interest, using a key word internet search. |
Entrepreneurship Club The College of Businessheld a Student Activity Fair last quarter and more than 20 students were eager to join the Entrepreneurship Club.After recent elections, we are proud to announce the newly elected Officers. Cincinnati Creates Companies Alum Partners with Unilever
Cincinnati Creates Companies (CCC) alum, Lawrence Griffith, Founder of SampleSaint.com continues to grow his new venture through a partnership with Unilever.Griffith participated in the inaugural class of CCC in 2005, formulating his business idea, which he eventually took to new levels in Chicago.CCC was a technology entrepreneurship program funded in part by the NSF and implemented in partnership by the UC Center for Entrepreneurship, UC Office of Entrepreneurial Affairs, the Hamilton County Business Center, BioStart, and Cincinnati Children's Medical Center from 2005-2008.Watch for more updates on CCC alums in future issues of theE-News & Views.
